“SCARY” Album
Identity Release Package
Photoshop • Procreate • 2026
SCARY is a real project for a working musician. Built around his orange lowrider and footage shot in an actual graveyard, the package includes the front and back album cover, two single covers, a full CD package, and social media graphics all designed to work together as one release.
Visual Direction
The direction for the project came directly from reference material provided by the musician including photos of his orange lowrider and footage shot in a real graveyard. The goal was to push those elements into a darker and more cinematic visual world while still keeping the imagery grounded and believable.
Sketch Development
The main challenge was building a lowrider scene without a usable photo of the actual car. The sketches worked out the composition and figured out what needed to be built from scratch before anything went digital.
Typeface Selection
Times New Roman (Custom)
Previous Options
Acier BAT, Freight Display Pro
Typeface Study
Times New Roman was selected for its classic weight and cinematic feel. Custom modifications gave the type a more aged appearance that fit the tone of the project better than anything off the shelf would have.
Color Selection
Midnight Navy, Burned Orange, Steel Teal
Color Study
Burned Orange keeps the lowrider as the focal point of every piece. Midnight Navy builds the graveyard atmosphere around it. Steel Teal adds separation and keeps the typography readable without breaking the mood.

First Drafts
The project started with the artist's concept of featuring his lowrider with the grill reading SCARY. Since the reference photo didn't include a grill, one was designed from scratch. Several early typography and background treatments were tested before landing on the final graveyard composition.
Final Deliverables
The front cover features a fully illustrated version of the artist's lowrider with custom pinstriping, glowing headlights, a redesigned grill, and an integrated chrome SCARY treatment. The artist appears subtly behind the windshield to add tension without overpowering the car. The back cover shifts to the rear of the same vehicle disappearing into smoke with a Texas plate reading R3571NG, connecting both covers into one continuous visual sequence. The single covers, CD packaging, and social media assets all maintain the same cinematic atmosphere across the full release.
Lone Rider
Lone Rider takes the Western imagery in the album title literally and pushes it somewhere darker. The client on horseback against a burning barn environment. Familiar themes pulled into something more unsettling.
Chasing You
Chasing You is built more around atmosphere than narrative. Repeated ghostly figures of the musician moving in formation against a neon-soaked background create a surreal sense of movement. The liquid typography adds to the distorted energy of the piece while still keeping it inside the same cinematic world as the rest of the release.
